What happens when people who look like you are not considered beautiful? Never appear in advertisements, on TV or in the movies except as the help or the usual suspects? Do you begin to want to be what you are shown as beautiful to the extent that you loathe yourself? Toni Morrison’s first novel, The Bluest Eye, written in 1970, explores this in the character of 11-year-old Pecola Breedlove. Join us as we read The Bluest Eye.
