Join us in a discussion of The Yellow Wife, by Sadeqa Johnson.

This is novel is a based on the real life story of an enslaved woman who lived in the most notorious slave jail, known as the the Devil's Half Acre in Richmond, Virginia. Originally she was told she would be set free upon her eighteenth birthday by her owner. However, upon his death she gets sold by her owners wife and after enduring many harrowing experiences, and against her will becomes the wife of the jailer, Robert Lumpkin.
