Program Description

Details

For the August book club, read Surviving Savannah, a novel by Patti Callahan. The story was inspired by the explosion of the Steamship Pulaski off the coast of North Carolina, in which two thirds of the passengers and crew were lost.

We will meet inside the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum. The museum building itself is a Virginia Beach icon on the National Register of Historic Places. Prior to our book discussion staff at the Museum will show us artifacts and talk about the 1891 shipwreck of the Dictator on the shores of Virginia Beach and about the Norwegian Lady Statue.

There is a parking garage located at 310 25th Street. It only takes a few minutes to get to the museum from there. Go to  https://www.vbgov.com/visitors/transportation-parking/Pages/beach-parking-garages.aspx for more information on parking.

Books are available in print and large print hardcovers for pick up at Central Library or call 385-0150 to reserve a copy.

Adults. Registration is required.
