Join us to discuss "The Girl from Guernica: a historical novel" (2022) by Karen Robards.

The author captures one of the most notorious episodes in history in a story of family bonds and the courage of women in wartime.

On an April day in 1937 fire rains down upon the small Spanish town of Guernica. Pablo Picasso expressed his outrage against war with Guernica, his enormous mural-sized painting displayed to millions of visitors at the Paris World’s Fair.

We will meet at the Pungo-Blackwater Senior Resource Center at 912 Princess Anne Road, next to the Pungo-Blackwater Library.

We will have a guest speaker from the Hampton Roads Wartime Women who will be in uniform and discuss the role of women in WWII.

Book club books in regular print and large print are available for check-out at the Central Library. Call 757-385-0150 if you would like to pick up your copy at another location.

Adults. Registration required.
