Build confidence and independence with an increased focus on more complex books, emphasizing alphabet and letter recognition, shapes, and hands-on activities. Age 3 with caregiver. Registration is not required.

Come and enjoy a craft that you and your child can participate in between storytimes. Each Make & Take Craft will be based off of something that was learned in storytime and further enrich your child's knowledge. Ages 2-3 with caregiver.

A family-friendly dance party experience where you broaden your experience, step outside your comfort zones, and discover new ways to move.

Summer is a great time to write for fun! Learn how to create a character and use dialogue to make the character come to life! Grades 3-5. Registration is required.

Boost independence and develop social skills using writing activities, basic concepts (i.e., colors, shapes, letters, etc.), large muscle movement, and social-emotional learning opportunities focusing on the whole child. Age 2 with a caregiver.

Practice reading and literacy skills with a teen mentor! Reading Buddies is a 4-week reading program that combines one-on-one reading encouragement and group activities to foster a love of reading and build confidence.

Compete in the 2024 Pungo-Blackwater Library Games! Drop in and challenge one another to games like Pass the Pig, Monopoly, card games, and more! Grades 3 and up. Registration is not required. 

Join us in a discussion of Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson. This book is a page turner from start to finish. An adult brother and sister who spent years apart, come together for the reading of their mothers' will.

Compete in the 2024 Pungo-Blackwater Library Games! Join us for a Mini Golf Tournament to compete for the top score and show off your hole-in-one skills. Grades 3 and up. Registration is required. 

Bring your craft, your supplies and your passion! Meet other crafters and creators, share your ideas and get new ones!

Adults. Registration is not required.

Grab a glowstick and head to the dancefloor! Get ready to dance under the soft glow of lights and have fun!  Ages 2-5 years. Registration is not required.

Come in for for 1.5 hours of board games and video games.

Grades 6-12. Registration is not required.  Just drop in!

Adventure awaits! Join an in-person Dungeons & Dragons campaign with other interested teens under the direction of an experienced Library Game Master. No prior experience required. On-going campaign, new players welcome!

Compete in the 2024 Pungo-Blackwater Library Games! Join us for an Obstacle Course Challenge throughout the library. Can you conquer the obstacles before time runs out? Grades and up. Registration is required. 

Do you love to build?  Come build with us! We'll use a variety of creative building manipulatives and our imagination to build amazing creations. Join us and meet others who enjoy building. Grades K-5. Registration is required.

Join us Wednesdays for teen-only activities. Enjoy movies, games, crafts, and more, with different selections each week. Grades 6-12. Registration is not required; drop in any time!

Weekly Themes:

Make a paper succulent. You will assemble pre-cut paper shapes together and then use an adhesive to keep everything together. There will be free containers at the program, but they are varying sizes and types.

Bring your Nintendo Switch and enjoy a fun, relaxing afternoon of hanging out and gaming! Meet fellow adult gamers and play together. You can even explore the games available for you to check out at the Library. Adults.

Help prepare your child to enter school ready to read!  This storytime includes books, rhymes, and literacy activities that emphasize alphabet and letter recognition plus activities that support independence and confidence building.

Reading Buddies is a 5 week reading program that combines one-on-one reading encouragement and group activities to build confidence and foster a love of reading. Children will partner with teen mentors to read, play games and have fun!

Bring your babies to explore different artistic styles. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy! Ages 6-24 months with caregiver. Registration is required.

Enjoy a warm and inviting space where you and your child can play and socialize with others in the community. Please note: This is a social event for both caregiver and child, as opposed to a traditionally structured program.

Build early language and large motor skills through rhyme, songs, book sharing and hands-on activities. Ages 3-24 months with caregiver. Registration is required.
