Tampa Taiko

Students will learn about and honor Japanese culture through an ancient Japanese art form, taiko, from sensei (teacher) Ron Collins. In this interactive program, students respond to, describe, interpret, and evaluate works of music both as performers and listeners. As a performing and teaching artist, Ron uses a collection of taiko drums he made from discarded barrels to demonstrate this traditional Japanese art form. All ages. Registration is required. These performances/workshops are funded through the Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission and Helen G. Gifford Foundation.
